Timber Rack Arm Systems
Rack Arms – Timber
Timber Rack Arm Systems integrate seamlessly with any timber building façade, providing a natural timber element to a building exterior and introduces a warm filter of light to interiors. Timber louvre slats offer a natural and coordinating finish to any architectural design. The louvre systems are non-retractable, with the slats made from high quality timber. They are suited for internal and external installations to horizontal, vertical, sloping, or unusual shaped windows.
Horiso selects timber from sustainably managed forests, for the manufacturing of slats in both Western Red Cedar and Marupa.

Timber Slat Colour/Species
Western Red Cedar
A dimensionally stable timber under most weather conditions and is not prone to shrinkage or swelling.
Due to its versatility, it can be used for both internal and external applications.
Marupa
A lightweight and resilient timber with a straight uniform grain used for interior installations.
Components
Operating Strip
The operating strip is attached to the rack arms ensuring alignment for the smooth operation of the system.
Polycarbonate Components
These weather-resistant and long-wearing components are manufactured from UV stabilised nylon 6 and include –
- Pivots
- Rack arm
- Slat clip
- Bearing bracket & tilt arm- standard system
Standard Clip Colours
- Light grey and black
Pivot Arms
The pivots are inserted into the notches of the rack arm extrusions.
Brushes
Brushes are an optional component that help achieve blackout when the system is closed. They slot into an angle bracket that is fixed onto the building structure or window mullion. 21mm (5/6”) x 118mm (1/9”)
Side Support With Edge Pivots
There additional supports are incorporated into irregular-shaped rack arm installations to ensure the smooth operation of the systems.
Operating Systems
Crank Handle
The system using any size slat can be manually operated using a gear box which connects to the tilt shaft and turned by a detached crank handle. The handle lengths can be specified for your projects.
Motorised
The most efficient and effective way to control the rack arms. The system can be opened tilted at various degrees for light filtration or completely open at 90° for maximum daylight by a press of a button. The electric motor incorporates internal thermal protection against overheating. Various control options and levels of sophistication are available.
Automation
Provides hands free operation at various levels of sophistication set to a user’s requirement. There are various customisable levels from time scheduling, sun tracking or integration with building management systems.
- Time Scheduling: Opens at various angles at set times
- Sun Tracking: Louvres open at various angles throughout the day based on the sun’s positioning
